The show was broadcast on the Nickelodeon network, and aired reruns on Nickelodeon until early 1999, and on TeenNick since late 2011. Hey Dude is an American Western comedy series that aired from Jto August 30, 1991, with a total of 65 half-hour episodes produced over five seasons. Many of these “new” shows had already been on the air for years on other channels. In that time, the now rebranded Nickelodeon added some animated series from the UK and Japan and some live action comedy and drama series. Originally programmed mostly with variety and game shows geared towards and staring children, not much had changed by the late 80s. The channel that began its life as “Pinwheel” in 1977 was the first cable network for children.
